phrases can work well at harmonizing your family. Rather than saying “no hitting,” for instance, tell children to “touch gently.”

Don’t forget your child’s favorite toy, blanket, or stuffed animal when traveling. Your child may become distressed if you take them somewhere new. If you keep some favorite and familiar toys from home, you can help a child adjust to a new place.

If your child was adopted, be prepared to face the questions they will have when they are old enough to understand. It’s natural for adopted children to wonder about their biological families, and they may pepper you with questions down the road. Try not to hide the child’s biological family from them, they’ll most likely hold a grudge towards you for doing so.

You should motivate your child to get involved in extracurricular activities such as joining sports teams. Participating in these activities cultivates your child’s social skills and allows him or her to make friends. The benefits of this process stretch right up into and throughout adulthood. Also, keeping busy with these activities keeps them away from engaging in negative ones.

To foster better eating habits, make your house a junk food free zone. When your home is free of sweets, baked goods and salty snacks, your kids may be less inclined to crave such foods. These snacks should be reserved for special occasions.
